Mexican Luchadora Candy White

When I first did a write up on masked luchadora Candy White she was just known as Candy.
But evidently she has added White to her ring name now.
I know....thank you Captain Obvious.
But anyway here are a few more shots of the young lady trained by Dinamo (Dynamo), Sombra Blanca (White Shade) and Arkangel de la Muerte (Arkangel of the Death).

Sexy Star - Vampiro Slayer

Lucha Underground just released this picture of luchadora Sexy Star as a vampire (vampiro) slayer.
Of course Sexy Star is one of five Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) wrestlers that star in the El Rey program Lucha Underground.
Trained by luchadors like Humberto Garza Jr., Mr. Lince, Gran Apache and the late Abismo Negro, this lady (with apologies to WWE Diva Victoria) ain't no lady to mess with.
It's really too bad WWE passed up on both her and Taya.
Imagine them on the Divas roster.

Luchadora Taya Valkyrie - Reina de Reinas

I haven't done anything on Luchadora Taya Valkyrie in a while so here she is.
Taya beat Faby Apache at Triplemanía XXII on August 17th, 2014 to win the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship.
And here she is with the belt.
You know, I think she is the first Canadian to hold that belt.

I really wish they would bring her to Lucha Underground and let her team up with her buddy Sexy Star.

La Chacala - Mexican Female Wrestlers

It's been a pretty good while since I have done anything about LLF star La Chacala here.
So here goes.....

Carolina Escobedo Villanueva was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on...well we dont know the year for sure.
But it was on April 27th.
She was trained by Pequeño Diamante and made her Lucha libre debut in 1998.

At five foot ten, La Chacala is bigger than most of the other luchadoras...and some of the luchadors.
Her finishing move is "The Bombazo 252" powerbomb...which really is usually pretty much it for her opponents.

And although La Chacala is a ruda (bad girl) she has a large and very loyal fanbase.
She has teamed with Poly Star, Tsunami (who she held the LLF Tag Team Titles with) and Lady Flammer.

Here is Chacala and Lady Flammer working over Diana La Cazadora

Current Luchadoras List

I tried this awhile back, but here is what I hope is a fairly up to date roster for the luchadoras in the Mexican wrestling promotions, Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA), Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) and Lucha Libre Femenil (LLF).
Maybe like last time, if I have any glaring errors, Cubs Fan will show up and straighten the mistakes out.
By the way, if you like Lucha Libre and you haven't been to Luchawiki, what are you waiting for?
It's the most comprehensive Lucha Libre site on the net, bar none.

So anyway, here we go with my attempt to get the rosters right...

Sarita vs. Taylor Wilde

The most popular luchadora on this blog is, hands down, Sarah Stock.
Of course she was born in Canada, and most wrestling fans in the US know her as Sarita on TNA, where she has recently turned heel and started a feud with her ex-tag team partner Taylor Wilde.
But lucha libre fans know that she has worked for Mexican wrestling promotions like Lucha Libre Femenil (LLF), Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) and Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) and has been very popular south of the border.

Some of her fans still refer to her as Dark Angel, the name she used when she wrestled masked in Mexico.

Anyway, here is a video of Sarah taking on her ex-partner Taylor from TNA Xplosion on July 14th, 2010.

You know, Princess Sugey is the one that beat Sarah and took her mask and Sarah's TNA name is Sarita which means "princess".
Hmmmm....

Sarah Stock to WWE?

sarah stock - dark angel - lucha libre
Luchadora Sarah Stock, Dark Angel, Sarita, has wrestled all over the world.
She has worked for wrestling promotions like Manitoba's Top Rope Championship Wrestling, Afa Anoa'i's World Xtreme Wrestling (WXW), Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling and many others.
Then Sarah moved down the map and went to Lucha Libre Femenil where she began wrestling masked as Dark Angel.
Sarah lost her mask to Princesa Sugey and went to Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA).
She wrestled for them for awhile, then moved on to Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) where she began to enjoy great fame and success.
Of course then she was hired by the American wrestling promotion TNA, and began to wrestle here as Sarita.
Still loving her Mexican fans, she split her time up between TNA and CMLL, appearing in shows in Mexico and even winning the CMLL Bodybuilding Championship four years in a row.
In TNA, she and Taylor Wilde won the inaugural Knockout Tag Team Championship.

But now rumor has it, that when her TNA contract is up, she will go to WWE.
Actually, a lot of TNA Knockouts seem to be looking at making that move.

But will the WWE allow Sarita to compete for them and still do CMLL shows?
Of course Vince wants to be a driving force in Mexico (as well as the rest of the world), so could Vince see this as an "in" to get into Mexico?

Now, how will they use Sarah if they get her?
They are not known for using female talent very well, just look at Jillian Hall and Katie Lee Burchhill.
Will Sarah just be regulated to comedy spots?
Or could we see a WWE title belt around her waist?
And how will she affect ticket sales?
Defecting from TNA didn’t seem to help Gail Kim much, but that was a WWE/TNA/WWE thing.
Sarah would be coming in fresh.
Plus she has a very big and loyal fan base.
I think Sarah could, as Mick Foley once said, "...put a lot of butts in the seats."

So we have to wait and see.
TNA, WWE, CMLL..Which way will she go?

Luchadoras, Estela Molina, Vicki Williams and Pantera Surena

Luchadoras, Estela Molina, Vicki Williams

Here's some of pictures posted by hugo999 over at the Box y Lucha forum of American wrestler Vicki Williams gettin' the crap kicked out of her by Estela Molina and Pantera Surena.
Many of the popular female wrestlers from the US did tours of duty in Mexico, and I bet some regreted it.

Vicki Williams was no push over.
At one time she was considered one of the top lady wrestlers in the world and was the number one challenger to the Fabulous Moolah's crown.

Pantera Surena-Vicki Williams

Pantera Surena with an abdominal stretch on Vicki Williams
Pantera Surena with an abdominal stretch on Vicki Williams...and I think she may be biting her...

Vicki actually defeated Irma Gonzales on December 9, 1979, in Mexico City to become the first UWA World Women's Wrestling Champion.
Then Estela Molina turned around and beat Vicki on December 23, 1979, again in Mexico City, to take the title.
Vicki, Estela and Irma traded the title back and forth until Chabela Romero won it on December 21, 1980 and it was vacated on April 19, 1981.

But then Lola Gonzales beat Vicki Williams (she must have really liked wrestling down there) on August 16, 1981 to become the new Champion.

Luchadora Roster For Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL)

Over on my Lucha Women blog, I did an update on the luchadora roster for Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA), so I thought today I'd do an update on the female wrestlers of Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL).
CMLL is a little harder than AAA to get a roster for because unlike AAA, CMLL seems to all but ignore their luchadoras on their website.
So this is as close as I can get to an actual roster...

Amapola - CMLL World Women's Champion since November 16, 2007
Goddess (Aurora)
Hiroka
India Sioux
La Nazi
Lady Apache
Luna Magica
Marcela
La Medusa/Medussa
Mima Shimoda
Princesa Blanca
Princesa Sujei
Rosa Negra
Sahori
Estrella Magica
Lluvia
La Seductora

Masked Luchadoras, Part 11

Lady Victoria wrested masked for awhile as Alondra and Chiquitibum.

Lady Warrior, anybody notice how the later masks seem to have sort of an "anime" look?

Larrosa was once one half of the Mexican National Women's Tag Team Champions with La Sirenita.

Lluvia (Rain), was trained by Satánico and Último Guerrero.

Masked Luchadoras, Part 9

Masked luchadora La Chacala (not to be confused with the other bigger, meaner La Chacala) was trained by Rey Misterio.

Lady Angel (Guasave Sinaloa) made her pro wrestling debut in 2002.

The masked Lady Dinamita (Lady TNT) made her lucha libre debut in 2000.

Masked Luchadoras, Part 7

La Fugitiva was a masked luchadora that wrestled in the 90s.
She took the mask of Princesa Dorada in a match on October 3rd, 1996.

Goddess was unmasked by another masked luchadora, Princesa Sujei on October 7, 2008 at Arena Mexico, and it was revealed that she was really Canadian Luchadora Aurora.

And of course one of my favorite Luchadoras, masked or otherwise, India Sioux.

Masked Luchadoras, Part 2

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
La Bruja was a masked luchadora until La Briosa unmasked her. But they look so happy here.

La Briosa wrestled masked until Martha Villalobos unmasked her at Centro de Convenciones, Acapulco, Guerrero on September 18,1992. I guess that's karma at work.

Cachorro Azteca and La Colombina were masked luchadoras in "the old days".

Candy, Centella de Plata and La Chola all wrestle masked.

Masked Joshi star Commando Bolshoi wrestled a few shows for Asistencia Asesoría y Administración in Japan and wrestled in Mexico in 2002 and 2003.

Persephone

Persephone was born on September 10, 1980 in Yorktown, Virginia.
She is a female indy wrestler that wrestled for LLF and AAA from 2003 to 2005.
Persephone was trained by Shannon Moore and Marty Garner, and made her pro wrestling debut in 1999.
Her finishing move is a Double-arm DDT.
She was named PGWA's Most Outstanding Wrestler in 2002.

Angelina Love / The Canadian Angel

Angel Williams is better known here in the US as TNA Knockout Angelina Love.
She was born on September 13, 1981 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
And even though she has wrestled in Canada and the US, she's also wrestled in Mexico.
In Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) she wrestled under the name Canadian Angel in June of 2007.

Aja Kong

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
The legendary joshi puroresu star Aja Kong wrestled for CMLL in 1992, and AAA in 2000.
Aja was born Erika Shishido on born September 25, 1970 in Tachikawa, Tokyo, Japan.
She got her wrestling training from AJW (All Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling) and made her pro wrestling debut on September 16, 1986.
Her favorite wrestling moves are the Uraken Fist (Spinning backfist), Brainbuster, Northern Lights superplex, Package piledriver, Powerbomb, Back suplex and the Piledriver.

Foreign Female Wrestlers in Mexico, part 3

Persephone wrestling Princess Sugey in Mexico

Winding up the entries on female wrestlers from other countries that have wrestled in Mexico....

The long list of joshi puroresu stars that have toured Japan continues with Noriyo Tateno, Sakie Hasegawa, Suzuka Minami, Tomi Aoyama, Toshiyo Yamada, Yuki Miyazaki, Yumi Fukawa and Yumiko Hotta. That may seem like a lot, however if you checked the luchadoras that have toured Japan, it would probably be about even.

Classic female wrestlers that have toured in Japan, Peggy Patterson, Penny Mitchell, Sherri Martel and Vicky Williams.
Woman, also known as the late Nancy Benoit toured as a valet and manager in Mexico. In Asistencia Asesoria y Administracion, she was known as Princess.

And many of today's Indy stars have also been involved in Lucha Libre. Persephone and Simply Luscious come to mind as well as Talia (who is Velvet Sky now in TNA) and Tracy Brooks (TNA's Traci Brooks). Talia once held the Universal Wrestling Association (UWA) Women's Tag Team title with Ariel.

Luchadora Taya Valkyrie is from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

Foreign Female Wrestlers in Mexico, part 1

As we have seen before, not all Luchadoras are Mexican.
Legendary Japanese female wrestler Aja Kong wrestled for both CMLL and AAA.
Alicia Webb has managed Syxx-Pac in Asistencia Asesoría y Administración.
American Angel (Sara Del Ray) appeared in Lucha Libre Femenil masked.
Angel Williams (TNA's Angelina Love) has wrestled for Asistencia Asesoría y Administración under the name Canadian Angel.
The beautiful April Hunter has toured in Mexico extensively, wrestling for AAA, CMLL and Lucha Libre Femenil.
Ariel (Ana Rocha, not Shelly Martinez) once held the LLF Juvenil title.
The lovely joshi puroresu star Azumi Hyuga has toured in Mexico as has Bison Kimura, Chaparrita ASARI, Chigusa Nagayo and Chikako Shiratori ( She held the CMLL Japan Women's Wrestling Championship).
The Mississpi Queen, Christie Ricci wrestled in Mexico and held the LLF Women's Wrestling Title.
