La Hiedra Luchadora

Well after months of the masked luchadora Lady Shani dominating this blog, another masked luchadora, La Hiedra, has taken over.
It seems this young lady is very popular.
So here are some random shots of her in action.

Princess Sugey wrestling April Hunter in Mexico

Here's a couple of pictures of Princess Sugey wrestling April Hunter in Mexico back in 2008.
First up, Sugey is punishing April with a camel clutch. Notice how Sugey is adding her own variation here, helping April smile wider.
Next, the brawl goes outside the wrestling ring, with Sugey putting a boot to the throat.

This is evidently from a match where April Hunter, Linda Star and Miss Janeth took on Princesa Sugey, la Bruja and Novia de Jason.

Faby Apache and Ivelisse vs Sexy Star and Taya Valkyrie

Seriously four of the best female wrestlers in the world, Faby Apache and Ivelisse taking on Sexy Star and Taya Valkyrie in Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) in 2013.
These ladies could put 90% of the WWE Diva roster to shame.
The sad thing is, is that the WWE had a shot at three of these ladies and messed up.
But what is bad for WWE is good for AAA.
By the way, in Mexico, Ivelisse is the good guy and Sexy Star is the bad guy as opposed to Lucha Underground where the roles were reversed.

Tiffany and Amapola - CMLL Wrestling

Here are CMLL luchadoras Tiffany and Amapola.
Tiffany worked for Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) until she went to Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) in September of 2010.
La Amaploa has wrestled for CMLL since 1998.
Tiffany is 41 and Amapola is 38, but they are both still going strong.

Is it just me or does Amapola always look like she is planning to, or just has, killed someone?

Dark Angel - Luchadora

If you think that Sarah Stock aka Dark Angel lost a step when she was in Japan, you couldn't tell it by her return to Mexico.
She looks to be in just as good, if not better, shape than she has ever been in.

Dark Angel - Luchadora

The Canadian wrestler turned luchadora is still going strong in the rings in Mexico.

Marcela vs Tiffany - CMLL

Luchadora Tiffany decides to take a bite out of CMLL World Women's Champion Marcela's forehead here in this match from CMLL.
By the way...is Tiffany a SHIELD agent now?
That kinda looks like their symbol on her catsuit...

Sexy Star Is Back And Better Than Ever

After giving birth to her child last year, Sexy Star has returned to the ring in Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA).
And she looks as good as ever.
And...hey...is that blood on her outfit?
Wow...when was the last time you saw a WWE Diva get bloody?

Lucha Libre Femenil (LLF) Card This Friday

Over at Luchamania I saw this big poster for a Lucha Libre Femenil (LLF) card this Friday with Dark Fantasy, Sadica (who for some reason looks familiar) and a surprise luchadora in a three-way match.

    http://luchamaniamonterrey.com/

There is also a match with Diana la Cazadora and Angelica taking on Lady Puma and Lady Maravilla.
La Gladiadora and Bombon will be taking on Flor de Loto and La Tigresa.
And Reyna de Corazones will be taking on La Heroina.

You can find out more info here

Taya Valkyrie - Canadian Luchadora

I have done a few write ups on Canadian female wrestler Taya Valkyrie (Kira Forster) not only on my wrestling blogs but on my fitness blogs as well.
Because she's not only a fitness model and fitness competitor, but she was trained by former WWE Superstar Lance Storm at his Storm Wrestling Academy.

Well I fully expected to see her pop up in the WWE, but now I find out she's shown up in Mexico with another Canadian wrestler Pete Powers.
Of course Canadian wrestlers seem to do really well in Mexico, just look at Sarah Stck/Dark Angel/Sarita and Aurora/Goddess.
Taya has worked for Perros del Mal (The Dogs of Evil), International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) and shown up in Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA).

La Catrina - Not Your Usual Luchadora

Every now and then I run across a luchadora that breaks all the stereotypes you usually see associated with female wrestlers.
La Catrina is one of those ladies.

    superluchas.net

This luchadora was born in 1954 (yes she's 58) and is a grandmother of seven.
She was trained by La Vida and Super Pinocho and made her lucha libre debut in 1983.
So yes... she is 58 and has been wrestling for 29 years.
La Catrina was a victim of domestic violence (she had an ex-husband who used to hit her) so she took up wrestling to learn to defend herself.
She is now happily married to a luchador.

And no one has made a movie about this woman yet?

AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship

La Sociedad (Alan Stone and Jennifer Blake)  http://luchalibreaaa.com/

In the WWE and usually in TNA, when they have a mixed tag team match it's pretty much a joke.
Women start out wrestling women, tag is made, guys come in, usually at some point the bad guy will refuse to tag and threaten helpless female (who is trained in wrestling and usually martial arts and could actually put up a good fight but when faced with a superior "man" she just melts into a puddle).
But in Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) they have a mixed tag team championship that has been around since 2003, the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship (or Parejas Mixtas AAA).

The first champions were the then husband and wife team of Electroshock and Lady Apache, who beat Gran Apache and Faby Apache, El Brazo and Martha Villalobos and Chessman and Tiffany in an elimination match on June 15th, 2003 in Naucalpan, México at Triplemanía XI.
They held the belts for 222 days until losing them to Chessman and Tiffany on September 16th, 2003 in San Luis Potosí, San Luis Potosí, Mexico at a AAA Television Taping.
They in turn lost the belts to Faby Apache and Gran Apache who held them for 556 until losing the belts because Fabi no-showed a title defense.
Then in another tournament, the brother/sister team of El Oriental and Cynthia Moreno won the belts and went on to become the longest title holders at 1,136 days (combined).
The current champions are La Sociedad (Alan Stone and Jennifer Blake).

April Hunter Wrestling La Tigresa in IWA

Here's a video that was very popular on my old Lucha Women blog.
It's a video posted on YouTube by dindio30 of April Hunter taking on La Tigresa in the Puerto Rican wrestling promotion, International Wrestling Association (IWA).

April Hunter Wrestling La Tigresa in IWA

Of course April Hunter was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and wrestled a lot here in the States, but she still has quite a following in Mexico from the time she spent working for various wrestling promotions there.

The IWA was actually started in Japan by promoter Victor Quiones in 1994.
In 1999, the Hispanic version was created and up until 2001, IWA was a member of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA).
From 1999 to 2001, it was also a WWE Developmental territory.

Anyway, here is a match from IWA's Juicio Final 4 back in 2004 with April Hunter taking on La Tigresa.
You know usually April has a size advantage over her opponents.
But not in this case.
You have April at five foot nine, 150 pounds against La Tigresa at five foot eight, 167 pounds.

Lucha Women May Be No More

Well lucha libre fans, one blog bites the dust.
I got this e-mail from Blogger this AM....

"Blogger no-reply@google.com
Hello, Your blog at http://luchawomen.blogspot.com/ has been reviewed and confirmed as in violation of our Terms of Service for: SPAM. In accordance to these terms, we've removed the blog and the URL is no longer accessible. For more information, please review the following resources: Blogger Terms of Service: http://blogger.com/terms.g Blogger Content Policy: http://blogger.com/content.g -The Blogger Team"

The blog has been around since 2007, but suddenly it's SPAM.
Oddly enough, the blog has been covered by Hispanically Speaking News, Lucha World and Mexablog...does that sound like SPAM?
I appealed the decision, so we'll see how that goes.

Until then, this blog will continue.
To tell you the truth, I have questioned why I started two luchadora blogs in the first place, so this may really be a blessing in disguise.

Peace

Luchadoras at Astros Del Ring

Here is a really cool website I ran across on the net called Astros Del Ring.
And it's on Blogger!
What caught my eye was some amazing photos like this one of CMLL Campeona Nacional Femenil Champion Princesa Blanca wrestling Dark Angel (Sarah Stock/TNA Knockout Sarita).

Go check out the site, it's really worth it!

Yuki Star - Luchadora

Yuki Star - Luchadora
http://superluchas.net/

Mexican luchadora Yuki Star was born on May 10th, 1994 in Mexico State, Mexico.
She is the younger sister of masked luchadora Vaneli (Vanelly).
Both Yuki and Vaneli were trained by Cinthia Moreno, Alda Moreno, Esther Moreno and Araña de Plata Jr. (Spider Silver).
Yuki made her lucha libre debut on August 15th, 2010 at Arena Azteca Budokan.
And yes, she was only sixteen years old at the time.
Even though she has only been wrestling for a little over a year, she has worked under the ring names Yuki Star, Oyuki Star and Sexy Kendra.
So far, I have only seen her listed as working for the Desastre Total Ultraviolento (DTU) Mexican wrestling promotion.
She is five foot two and weighs 137 pounds.

Vaquerita - Luchadoras Mexicanas

When I did a write up on the Mexican wrestling promotion Desastre Total Ultraviolento (DTU), I mentioned La Vaquerita (The Cowgirl) but didn't have any info or even a picture of her.
Well here is a picture.

Vaquerita - Luchadoras Mexicanas

Don't have a lot more info other than she is from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, she has wrestled under the names Gypsy and Alazka, she was trained by Diablo Velazco, Gran Cochisse and Gran Apache, and she made her lucha libre debut in 1993, so she's actually been around awhile.
Besides DTU she has wrestled for Promociones Limex, PdM, Universal Wrestling Entertainment (UWE) and of course DTU.
