Luchadoras - Hija de Karonte

Masked luchadora Hija de Karonte was born on April 12, 1980.
She is the daughter of famous luchador Karonte and she was trained by him.
Hija de Karonte made her Lucha Libre debut on August 23, 2008 in Deportivo La Alianza, Monterrey.
She has always wrestled under the name Hija de Karonte, but she has been nicknamed Princesa de las Tinieblas.
As far as I can tell, she wrestles for the Lucha Libre Unida (LLU) wrestling promotion in Mexico.
Her signature is the Cangrejo, which most places list as a boston crab, but it looks more to me like Chris Jericho's old Liontamer, kind of an elevated boston crab.

Luchadoras - Angelica

I mentioned luchadora Angelica briefly in a post awhile back, but here is some more about her.
Angelica was trained by Pequeño Diamante, Garringo and Shibata.
She made her Lucha Libre debut in 2007.
On May 23rd, 2008, Angelica defeated La Bombon, Lady Puma and finally La Bandida in the final match of an eight woman tournament for the vacant Lucha Libre Femenil (LLF) Juvenil championship.
Although the title name may make it sound less important, you have to remember that this title has been held by Dark Angel (Sarah Stock), Princesa Sujei, Nikki Roxx, Tsunami and Ariel in the past.

The Top Ten Luchadoras for August

Debbie Malenko and Sakie Hasegawa

I haven't done a top ten Luchadora list on here in ages, maybe ever, so I'm going to do one now.
These are the top ten most searched for Lucahdoras on this blog for August.

1. Debbie Malenko
Strange for a lady from Orlando, Florida to top a Lucha Libre list isn't it?
But Debbie is probably one of the most under-rated female wrestlers of all time.
Debbie wrestled a lot in Japan and Mexico.
In Mexico she and her tag team partner Sakie Hasegawa wrestled for CMLL.

2. Estrellita
Luchadora Estrellita remains very popular.
"Little Star" was born Viviana Ochoa Barradas on October 18, 1977, in Zamora, Michoacán, Mexico.
She made her lucha libre debut on February 26, 1993 at the Auditorio Municipal de Amecameca in Mexico.

3. Faby Apache
Faby Apache another young lady with a loyal following.
Faby made her wrestling debut on January 20, 1998 at the Deportivo Azcapotzalco in Mexico City.

4. Mari Apache
Fabi's sister Mari Apache, came in right behind Fabi.
Mari made her pro wrestling debut on October 15, 1995.

5. Hiroka
This CMLL wrestler has wrestled under the names Hiroka Yaginuma and Raven Hiroka, but just goes by Hiroka today.
She made her Lucha Libre debut on September 18, 2002.
Hiroka is married to Pequeño Damián 666 who also works for CMLL.

6. Amapola
The CMLL World Women's Champion made her pro wrestling debut in December, 1997 at the Arena Neza in Netzahualcoyotl, Mexico.
I wonder if TNA has considered bringing her up to feud with Sarita?

7. Lady Sensacion
I dont know a lot about this young lady other than she was trained by luchadors Villano I and Chico Malo I and made her Lucha Libre debut in 1999.

8. Princesa Sugey
If they have a Lucha Libre Hall of Fame, this lady should be headed for it.
She has wrestled for both AAA and CMLL and made her pro wrestling debut on September 22, 1996 at the Arena La Junta in Villa Juarez, Nuevo León, Mexico.

9. Xochitl Hamada
The sister of now TNA Knockout Hamada made her pro wrestling debut way back on September 5, 1986, not in Mexico, but at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

10. Zeuxis
And rounding out the top ten, we have Zeuxis.
Again I know little about her other than she was trained by Negro Navarro, Alimaña and Huracán Ramírez, and made her Lucha Libre debut on April 26, 2008.
That and she has tag teamed with Amapola and Hiroka which I guess makes her CMLL or EMLL

Luchadora Marcela

You know Mexican Luchadora Marcela may be one of the best female wrestlers in Lucha Libre.
She doesnt get the press that luchadoras like Sarah Stock (Dark Angel , Sarita) get, but Marcela is very technically sound.
I mean c'mon, she's been wrestling since December 1985.
You don't see that many WWE Divas or even TNA Knockouts with that much in ring experience.
And Marcela has held the Distrito Federal Women's Wrestling Title, the CMLL Women's Wrestling Title and the Mexican National Women's Wrestling Championship.
So even though I have done entries on Marcela before, here's a look at this under-rated (at least up here) luchadora.

Luchadoras, Estela Molina, Vicki Williams and Pantera Surena

Luchadoras, Estela Molina, Vicki Williams

Here's some of pictures posted by hugo999 over at the Box y Lucha forum of American wrestler Vicki Williams gettin' the crap kicked out of her by Estela Molina and Pantera Surena.
Many of the popular female wrestlers from the US did tours of duty in Mexico, and I bet some regreted it.

Vicki Williams was no push over.
At one time she was considered one of the top lady wrestlers in the world and was the number one challenger to the Fabulous Moolah's crown.

Pantera Surena-Vicki Williams

Pantera Surena with an abdominal stretch on Vicki Williams
Pantera Surena with an abdominal stretch on Vicki Williams...and I think she may be biting her...

Vicki actually defeated Irma Gonzales on December 9, 1979, in Mexico City to become the first UWA World Women's Wrestling Champion.
Then Estela Molina turned around and beat Vicki on December 23, 1979, again in Mexico City, to take the title.
Vicki, Estela and Irma traded the title back and forth until Chabela Romero won it on December 21, 1980 and it was vacated on April 19, 1981.

But then Lola Gonzales beat Vicki Williams (she must have really liked wrestling down there) on August 16, 1981 to become the new Champion.

Luchadora Roster For Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL)

Over on my Lucha Women blog, I did an update on the luchadora roster for Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA), so I thought today I'd do an update on the female wrestlers of Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL).
CMLL is a little harder than AAA to get a roster for because unlike AAA, CMLL seems to all but ignore their luchadoras on their website.
So this is as close as I can get to an actual roster...

Amapola - CMLL World Women's Champion since November 16, 2007
Goddess (Aurora)
Hiroka
India Sioux
La Nazi
Lady Apache
Luna Magica
Marcela
La Medusa/Medussa
Mima Shimoda
Princesa Blanca
Princesa Sujei
Rosa Negra
Sahori
Estrella Magica
Lluvia
La Seductora

Luchadora News

Not a lot of Luchadora news today....

There's an article at the Los Angeles Times about Lucha VaVoom, thats been around for an amazing seven years and usually features some Luchadoras on their "cards" like the Poubelle Twins, Crybaby and (The NY Knockout) Nikki.

You can keep up with these American Luchadoras at their MySpace pages....
CryBaby
http://www.myspace.com/crybaby46

Nikki
http://www.myspace.com/nyknockout

And the Poubelle Twins (they sing as well as wrestle!)
http://www.myspace.com/laspoubelles

I added another Hub over at Hub Pages about Canadian and American female wrestlers that have wrestled in Lucha Libre.
(Does that count as news?)

Luchadora Reality Show?

Mary Apache

Luchador Konnan is going to be a part of a reality TV show sponsored by Asistencia Asesoría y Administración to find (as they put it) "Miss Triple A."
They are going to take MMA fighters, boxers, fitness competitors and turn them into Luchadoras with the help of Lucha Libre legend Gran Apache and possibly Mary and Lady Apache (no Faby?).
The judges for the competition will be (tentatively) Gloria Trevi, Latin Lover and Konnan.
Okay I understand Konnan and Latin Lover, but Gloria is a singer-songwriter......
Anyway, if they pull off the show, hopefully it will give Lucha Libre and luchadoras a big boost.
I really do wish Konnan luck with this venture.

Keep an eye out for more info on this at Asistencia Asesoría y Administración's website here:

Sarita on TNA Tomorrow Night?

TNA has posted the promo for Sarita's (who we know as Sarah Stock or Dark Angel) debut on TNA wrestling.
We've waited a long time for this (and Ayako Hamada by the way) so I'm really anxious to see her television debut, and just what they will do with this talented wrestler.
Of course "in 3 weeks" then means tomorrow night on TNA.
Sorry...I was gone for awhile.
I noticed at TNA's website there is still no profile up yet.

Anyway, here's the video if you haven't seen it yet....

When Will Sarah Stock (Sarita) Show Up In TNA?

Sarah Stock, or Dark Angel, or Sarita, got her official TNA debut pushed back a bit.
It seems TNA was all ready to have Sarah come in and take the top face postion left open by the departure of Gail Kim.
But now Victoria (Tara) has come in and took that postition.
Okay, if you read any of my wrestling blogs you know I'm a huge Victoria fan.
But was that fair to Sarah?
Nope.
Sure Victoria has the heat, she's a former WWE Diva and former WWE Womens Wrestling Champion.
But to just shove Sarah to the side is plain rude.

Of course TNA is not giving up on Sarah.
She was backstage at the iMPACT tapings last week and they did film some spots for her debut.
But now what are TNA's plans for her?
Still a face?
Or will she come in as a heel?

How about Sarah coming in as a heel, managed by Hector Guerrero?
